The plastic has 1/4" ventilation slits providing adequate sunlight. They are easy to put together and work fine to protect young trees from weed whacking. However, some users have found difficulty with the tabs being too small to hold, and with the plastic having a memory to go flat. The product looks better in pictures and has been known to be a bit wobbly, but is hardy enough to stand up to weed trimming.
