The item is effective for parasite control, as one can dial down the pump, but one cannot improve the rating. The product works for algae but will not get the rated 600-700GPH and 30,000um/cm required for effective algae control. The connector fits the Reefer 170 and it works well. It is also suitable for Reefers 300XL and 525 models. If you want to convert your Reefer drain and return pipes from metric to standard then purchase this connector and discard the barb fitting. The connector works well with the Reefer XL 525 and it fits and works perfectly.
