Question:
What devices are compatible with the Wasabi Power Dual USB Battery Charger?
Answer: The Wasabi Power Dual USB Battery Charger is specifically designed to charge the Olympus BLX-1 battery, which is used in the Olympus OM System OM-1 camera. This means that if you own the OM-1 or any compatible camera that uses the BLX-1, this charger is an ideal choice for keeping your batteries powered. It supports dual charging, allowing you to charge two batteries simultaneously, which is perfect for photographers who are on the go and need to ensure they have enough power for extended shoots. -
Question:
How does the dual USB feature work in this charger?
Answer: The dual USB feature of the Wasabi Power Charger allows you to charge two batteries at the same time using a single power source. This is particularly useful for users who may have multiple batteries for their camera. The charger is equipped with two dedicated slots, and you can use any standard USB power source, like a laptop or a power bank, making it versatile for travel or fieldwork. This functionality ensures that you can maximize your charging time, ensuring your camera gear is always powered up when you need it. -
Question:
Is it safe to use third-party batteries with this charger?
Answer: Yes, the Wasabi Power Dual USB Battery Charger is compatible with third-party batteries designed for the BLX-1, provided they are from reputable brands. Using third-party batteries can often be a cost-effective solution, and this charger is built to handle them safely. However, it's crucial to ensure that these batteries meet safety standards to avoid damaging your equipment. Always check both the charger and battery specifications before use to ensure compatibility and safety. -
Question:
What charging speeds can I expect from this dual charger?
Answer: The Wasabi Power Dual USB Battery Charger is engineered to charge batteries efficiently, typically offering a fast charging speed to minimize downtime. The exact speed will depend on the power input from the source, but it’s designed to optimize recharge times. For instance, when plugged into a high-output power source, you can expect a significantly reduced charging period compared to slower chargers. This feature is especially beneficial during busy shooting days when you need to quickly swap out batteries. -
Question:
Can I charge other devices using this battery charger?
Answer: While the primary function of the Wasabi Power Dual USB Battery Charger is to charge Olympus BLX-1 batteries, its dual USB output means you can also use it to charge other devices such as smartphones or tablets, provided you have the appropriate cables. This multi-functionality makes it a convenient tool for photographers and travelers who want a single charging solution for multiple devices. Keep in mind that charging speed for non-battery devices may vary based on their input requirements. -
Question:
What are the advantages of using a dual charger?
Answer: Using a dual charger like the Wasabi Power model allows you to charge two batteries at once, which is a game-changer for avid photographers or videographers. It enables you to minimize downtime between uses, ensuring that you can swap out batteries quickly during shoots. This is particularly advantageous during events like weddings or outdoor shoots where having an instantly charged spare can make all the difference. Additionally, its compact design makes it easy to carry, adding to its convenience. -
Question:
Does the charger come with a power adapter?
Answer: The Wasabi Power Dual USB Battery Charger itself is designed to connect via a USB input, and it typically does not come with a dedicated wall adapter. However, you can easily charge it by connecting it to a USB wall charger, laptop, or even a power bank. This flexibility allows you to utilize various charging sources, making it convenient whether you're at home or on location. Just ensure that the power source can provide adequate output for optimal charging speeds. -
Question:
Is there an LED indicator on the battery charger?
Answer: Yes, the Wasabi Power Dual USB Battery Charger features LED indicators that display the charging status of each battery. These indicators provide real-time feedback, showing whether the batteries are charging, fully charged, or if there’s an issue. This feature helps users to monitor the charging process easily without needing to frequently check the batteries themselves, ensuring you can keep track of your power levels during shoots. -
Question:
What should I do if my battery gets excessively hot while charging?
Answer: If your battery becomes excessively hot while charging in the Wasabi Power Dual USB Battery Charger, it's best to disconnect it immediately. Overheating can be a sign of a defective battery or charger. Allow the battery to cool down before checking for any visible damage or trying to charge it again. Always make sure you’re using the charger correctly and that the battery is a compatible model. If problems persist, consider consulting the manufacturer for advice or replacement options. -

Wasabi Power Camera Editorial Review
The Wasabi Power Dual USB Battery Charger for Olympus BLX-1 and Olympus OM System OM-1 has garnered a mix of affection and criticism from customers, highlighting both its practical advantages and potential pitfalls. Many users appreciate the charger as a cost-effective alternative to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) options, which are often Considered overpriced. The dual charging capability, allowing users to charge two batteries at once, is frequently praised, as it provides a convenient solution for those who rely heavily on their Olympus OMD-1 cameras. Customers particularly value its lightweight design and the quick charging times reported. However, there are some concerns regarding its durability.
