How long does the timer keep ringing if I don't turn it off?

You don't have to turn it off. It stops ringing after about 4 seconds. It's a great little visual timer.

Does the silicon case cover the on/off alarm switch?

The silicone case does not cover the ON/OFF alarm switch or the battery compartment. It is open in the back so you can access as necessary.

Can you pause the timer?

It is good to stand up and move around every 20 to 30 minutes. So you could set the timer for 20 to 30 minutes, and then set it again after he takes his break. It is an obvious solution, but it may be helpful to have a break built in. Of course, it is easy to reset whenever he takes a break. (I love that it makes no noise! It somehow encourages some internal quiet.)

I ordered this but it was too quiet...Can anyone recommend a different timer with a louder alarm?
